Summer hounds!

Hi everyone,
It's been a restful weekend for us hounds and we've definitely been enjoying the cooler weather. The week has been less restful for Mom and Dad, though... I've been getting them up extra early to go outside. As a result, Mom spent a lot of time this weekend snoozing on the sofa (which is fine as long as she leaves it for me to sleep on at night). Anyway, the last week was quite hot and Bernie decided to find a nice cool spot to sleep. He dug himself a nice hole under one of the shrubs and snoozed the day away.

Here's me surveying my yard (and making sure it's not invaded by birds, squirrels, or rabbits!)

Maria naps on the couch too; I shove her off if I want to sleep on it. Bernie is smart to find a place in the shade and you are quite the watch-hound looking out for strange creatures in your yard.

(oops, I couldn't spell very well in my first post and had to start over - sorry 'bout that!)

Marmalade, you have some nice drool started in that first portrait. Good job.

And Bernie looks very comfy in that shady spot under the tree.

Glad to hear it's cooled of some. The humidity has gone down here, so maybe more cooler weather will be heading your way too.

Naps are the best way to beat the summertime heat according to my two girls.

Hi Marmalade! Glad you are enjoying your yard. Edie says it's typical of the male to lie in the shade while the female guards the house. Keep up the good work. I am "on vacation" in a kennel for a week while Edie is in Anchorage for her husband's surgery. It is very exciting here. Many dogs to keep me company, along with evil horses, rabbits and geese. I am doing my best to let Molly and Dimond protect me. Trying to be just like Bernie...
